The son of James and Ethyl Gattis was born December 7, 1931 at Yellville, Arkansas. He was a resident of Harrison since 1969 and worked as an EMT and in the medical field for most of his life. He was a US Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War and a member of Northside Church of Christ. Billy was born Mar. 17, 1933 in Sherman, TX, to the late George Jefferson Gattis and Ruth Mae Gattis.

The rioting spread throughout the city and resulted in the deployment of 6,000 Federal troops. 34 people were killed, - mostly by white police or National Guardsmen, 433 were wounded and an estimated $2 million of property was destroyed. The same summer, there were riots in Beaumont, Texas and Harlem, New York. In 1965, from August 11 to 16, riots broke out in Watts, a Black section of Los Angeles. An allegedly drunk African-American driver was stopped by LA police and, after a fight, police brutality was alleged - and the riots began. 34 people died in the rioting and over $40 million in property damage occurred.

Layne was born January 24, 1983 in Covington, the son of Nancy Layne Bruegge and the late George Gattis. Layne was employed as a crane operator at Steel Tech. Mr. Gattis was never happier than when he was in, on or near the water. Needs to review the security of your connection before proceeding. J Paul Gattis Jr. was born on July 15, 1979 to the late Billy Gattis and Brenda Marie Graves Gattis. On April 15, 2022, J Paul transitioned from this life. J Paul was affectionately known by several names including “Yayo”, “Shi”, “Shi-Weed”, “Ak-bak” and “Pauly”.
